Bowen Therapist, 65, Ross-On-Wye
Having worked as a therapist for about 20 years I have at times heard references to Rolfing. My understanding was that it involved deep massage and would be a very challenging experience. This would make it far removed from the work I do as a Bowen therapist which involves minimal intervention with very gentle movements on the body. I was keen to find if it would help with my energy levels. I have no health problems but for many years have been lacking in energy and easily get exhausted.
Working with Vicky in the same clinic allowed me to exchange sessions and have first hand experience of SI. I discovered that although Rolfing does from time to time involve strong pressure it was fleeting and quite easy to experience. In my case there was no deep massage of the organs of the body.
At the end of the series of sessions I felt focused; more energised and had a welcome boost to my work as a therapist. I felt I was walking taller.
"Rolfers make a life study of relating bodies and their fields to the earth and its gravity field, and we so organize the body that the gravity field can reinforce the body's energy field. This is our primary concept."
- Ida P. Rolf.
