Your S.I. Practitioner - Vicky Wright

Vicky Wright practices Structural Integration, also known as Rolfing, in Oxford and Cheltenham. After graduating with an MSci in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, Vicky became fascinated in the connection between the mind and the body whilst studying Ayurvedic massage in India. Ayurveda quite literally means the science (“veda”) of life (“ayur”) and was developed by the sages in ancient India. They observed and understood how the 5 elements interplayed in different human characteristics and behaviour, and how imbalances of these could be reflected in the physical body.

Researching further into this area, she discovered that balance of the physical structure directly related to well-being of the individual and that the dynamic holding of the body could change a person’s perspective of the world. Whilst experiencing Structural Integration she was amazed at the dramatic physical changes that unfolded over the 10 series. As an experienced martial artist, she noticed a clear increase in flexibility and core strength, along with many other changes including a 1" inch increase in height.

Inspired by the work she went on to study at The Guild of Structural Integration, Boulder, Colorado and was incredibly fortunate to be taught by Tom Wing (a direct student of Dr. Rolf), Liz Stewart and Jeff Linn.

She brings to her practice an in-depth knowledge of Martial arts, Hands-on Dissection Anatomy, Ashtanga Yoga, Dance and theatre-based movement work.

"An effective human being is a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts."
